UK workshop information

Mr-Forbes the night owl 002

The Tawny Owl workshops will be run during the Bluebell season in late April when the Bluebells are out in all their glory. Starting at 2.00 pm at a private woods in Essex, we will photograph our Tawny owl and capture some great portraits in a natural environment plus flight shots over the Bluebells!
We will try to hide the jesses as much as possible for the portrait images. This is a great way to hone your skills and camera craft for when you want to go into the field and try to capture wildlife on your own. Maximum of 4-6 people. Camera equipment needed: 70-200mm or 100-400mm lenses recommended plus plenty of memory cards and spare batteries!
Approx 2.5 hours of photography. If you have any questions or special requirements please contact us and we will try to accommodate you.
These workshops may be cancelled and re-organised at short notice due to the British weather. Sorry for any inconvenience, but we want to make sure you get some great images to take away.
The dates for the Tawny owl 2024 Bluebell workshops will be added as soon as the Bluebells are out in full bloom. Please e-mail to register your interest to avoid disappointment as these sell out fast and the Bluebells are only out for a very short time.

***NOT AVAILABLE DUE TO COVID 19*** Here is our new Barn owl photographic studio workshop. Unlike any other we have done, this is purely a Barn owl portfolio workshop. The owl will be free of any Jesses and anklets and will be allowed to roam about in the studio. (Please note: this is a safe environment for the bird and photographer). Your session will start with a cup of tea or coffee and a brief overview of what is going to happen in your session that day. After you get acquainted with the studio and lighting equipment being used, we will start by making sure all the camera settings and focus techniques are fully explained. Then we will use a 'test' Barn owl (one with Jesses) for some practice to make sure all is well. After that, we will move on to the Barn owl that has no jesses and anklets for the main shoot. Different sets are available during the session as are different lighting styles. Back-lit, side-lit, spot-lit all give different moods and looks to your images. This is a very limited workshop and we are not running very many in 2022. The sessions are approx 2.5 hours long and will be a morning or an afternoon time. 10am-12.30 or 1.30-4.00pm at weekends. The cost of this amazing experience is only £199 per photographer per session. This includes a pure one-2-one with us and the owls, all top-end lighting equipment and modifiers, props, the use of the studio, and some light refreshments during your time with us. You can email us at: wildlifephoto@robinlowry.co.uk for more information, to book a place, or buy a gift voucher for this great photographic experience for an unforgettable time.
